Massage Therapy: Features

ROLFING

Rolfing®, also called Structural Integration, is a form of manual therapy created by Dr. Ida Rolf. It focuses on connective tissue (fascia) manipulation, movement, body awareness and education. Rolfing SI has the ability to dramatically transform a person's posture, structure and emotional well-being!

Rolfing has the ability to dramatically alter a person's posture and structure. Rolfing can resolve discomfort, release tension and alleviate pain. Rolfing aims to restore flexibility, revitalize your energy and leave you feeling more comfortable in your body. The genius of the work rests on Dr. Rolf's insight that the body is more at ease and functions most effectively when its structure is balanced in gravity.

Rolfing can helping anyone dealing with pain or postural issues, athletes, anyone who wants to understand their body more. Rolfing can help anyone who is open to this transformational work. The more open you are to the process and the more you listen and tune into your body, the greater results you will receive.

The Ten Series

The Ten Series is a systematic approach to aligning your structure. Each session builds upon the last and prepares your body for the next. Sessions 1 - 3 work on the more superficial layers of connective tissue. Sessions 4 - 7 address strain in deeper layers of the body. Sessions 8 - 10 organize and align the body as a whole, providing better balance, enhanced freedom of movement, and a higher energy level.

The Ten Series provides Rolfers with a map to guide your body through its journey of integration.  Although structural goals may be similar, the same session may look very different for different clients based on structure, learned behaviors, and movement patterns. Each session and series is as unique as the person receiving it!
