Dr. Maya Gonzales received her Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Hastings College in Hastings, Nebraska, and Doctorate of Chiropractic from University of Western States in Portland, Oregon. She is a Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician and a member of the American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physicians. She is certified in Active Release Technique (ART) and a certified level three Kinesio-tape practitioner. Dr. Gonzales is a member of the Colorado Chiropractic Association and the American Chiropractic Association (ACA), through which she promotes patients’ rights and chiropractic benefits on a national level. By lobbying in Washington D.C. with the ACA, she has helped pass legislation regarding chiropractic care for those in the armed forces serving active duty, and benefits for armed forces’ retirees, veterans and their dependents. She also helped in the passage of laws for the recognition of chiropractic health services for under served areas.
After graduating from Western States Chiropractic College in June 2006, Dr. Gonzales opened a practice in Denver, Colorado. Almost two years later, after living and working in Denver, she was offered a position at Mt. View Chiropractic and Wellness Center in Bonney Lake, Washington. Mt. View Chiropractic and Wellness Center was an established practice with several practitioners including chiropractic, massage therapy, acupuncture, nutrition, and naturopathic medicine. Dr. Gonzales had the opportunity to become the Sports Medicine Chiropractor in the clinic from 2008 to 2014 and work with other first class practitioners.
Dr. Gonzales and her family had always planned on returning to Colorado in order to be closer to family, and to return to the Rocky Mountains. The active lifestyle of the Evergreen community and surrounding areas fits Dr. Gonzales’ philosophy of practice and the kinds of patients she really enjoys working with. Although she does not limit her practice solely to sports
medicine, she has a strong belief that there is an athlete in all of us. This is true if a person is an elite athlete, a weekend warrior, or an occasional walker. Your goals could be to win a race, climb a mountain, lose weight, get some fresh air, or simply do the normal activities of daily living. Dr. Gonzales’ treatment plans are based on one of her most important goals: Help her patents do the things they love without having to worry about musculoskeletal pain or imbalance. She treats her patients’ symptoms, finds the root of the problem, and teaches them to becomeindependent and avoid re-injury. She works with her patients to get back to full and pain free activity as soon as possible, and she often finds her patients begin to pay more attention to their bodies and are able to identify problems and seek treatment in the early stages. It is an exciting process.
Dr. Van Winkle is a chiropractic physician who provides an individualized approach to help you accelerate and/or maintain your journey to good health. She offers comprehensive chiropractic care, including soft tissue techniques, gait assessment, taping, therapeutic exercises, and rehabilitation. By integrating multiple chiropractic adjusting techniques, she is able to accommodate the needs of her patients to help meet their goals.
As a native to Colorado, Dr. Van Winkle fully enjoys the active, outdoor lifestyle that Colorado has to offer. She is an avid hiker, gardener, skier, and has a 19-year history of running the BolderBoulder. She believes in the importance of balance, and that everyone deserves to experience the freedom of movement in life.
Throughout her childhood, she had experienced various forms of physical medicine as an adjunct to her active lifestyle. She began her decade-long career as a dancer at a young age, which sparked her appreciation for movement of the human body. It wasn’t until her teenage years that she first experienced the effectiveness of chiropractic health care, and from then on she knew that she wanted to dedicate her passion for serving others in this field.
She received her bachelors of arts in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from the University of Colorado in Boulder. Eager to start her chiropractic education, she moved to Portland, Oregon, where she graduated Cum Laude from the University of Western States and received her Doctorate of Chiropractic. Her distinctly empathetic nature has led her to her most recent pursuit for certification in animal chiropractic through Parker University in Dallas, Texas. Having recently moved back to Colorado, she is excited to be of service to residents of Evergreen and the surrounding communities, and looks forward to meeting you at Evergreen Spine and Sports Medicine!

Massage techniques relax muscles, increase circulation, reduces pain and improving joint range-of-motion. Each massage technique manipulates soft tissue in various ways. Some use stroking, kneading, friction, tapping or compression to deliver therapeutic benefits to the body as a whole.
Matt graduated from massage therapy school in 2002 and has had 15 years in practice. He specializes in deep tissue massage, sports massage, trigger point therapy and Swedish massage.
Matt started his career working with nurses at Cancer Center of the Rockies. After receiving great praise from both the nurses and doctors, he was asked about working on the patients. He then sought training in oncology massage and working with patients to relieve the stresses of chemotherapy on the body. It was a sad but rewarding experience. Many patients just needed to have their hand held or shoulders rubbed. Most of the time it was about listening to the patients and understanding their needs. He has carried that into his practice today. Listening and catering to an individuals needs is of the utmost importance to him. His modality of preference, by most individuals, is Deep Tissue/Sport Massage. As an avid athlete, he understands that with play comes injuries, and the need for relief of muscle tension. He has worked in the Evergreen area for 11 years on ultra marathon competitors, triathletes, skiers, snowboarders and various other competitive athletes, with great performance enhancing results. Massage therapy is also a great way to relieve stress from work related over use injuries (i.e. computer work, construction, travel, general occupational stress), and he can offer relief for these symptoms as well.
